I have a great-great-great grandfather name Lemuel McMichael. He looks like he may be hipsanic but no one knows, so I wanted to look more into his name. I know the last name is Irish but what is his first name and what did it mean? I am just trying to find out what nationality he was.

Reply:I'd agree with the others in that Lemuel is a Biblical name of hebrew origin. It was quite common in the 17 and 1800's for folks to choose biblical names for their children. The last name McMichael is deffinately Irish,Scotch or English.
