Is it French? How is it pronounced?
What is the origin of the family name Alfiche?

well, here's an interesting article re a person of the name, who seems well connected to Hawaii (supporting the prior answer). If YOUR line also connects to Hawaii, I'd make some effort to find this guy and chat with him.
However, the point that I normally work to explain is that it can be misleading to assume a name comes from any one place. The gentleman in Hawaii might have a gr gr grandfather who came from Italy, or %26lt;fill in the blank%26gt;.
The most reliable way that I know of, is to step back from where a name "originally" comes from (since it is often debatable) and focus on verifying where your ancestor of that name was actually born.
Reply:Alfiche in our line comes from the Basque (to spain to Phillipines to Hawa`i). Report Abuse
Reply:The 1930 census has 11 people named Alfiche and they were born in Honolulu.
The New York Passenger list 1820-1957 has a Pasqualina Alfiche born in Italy abt 1865. Arrival date December 20, 1914
The California Passenger List 1893 1957 has 4, no place of residence but they left the Port or Honolulu.
Don't know if they spelled it that way in Italian. The ch in Italian is pronouced like a k in English. I think it would be like al FLE kay. It might have been spelled Alflice and that would be pronouced Al FLE chay.
