There is a mountain range in Venezuela that is called like that, and maybe some Inca princess, other than that I don't know anything. I would like to have more information about it. Thanks
Does anybody know the origin of the name Maigualida?
That would seem to be the only explanation - that Maigualida was named after that Venezuelan mountain range. Sometimes a persons name does not have a particular meaning, though originally the range would have had to be named for a person.
There is no other reference I can find, and maybe, just as with lots of other names, the meaning is lost in time.
Reply:Name origins are a frequent question here... and it is one of those questions that HAS no accurate or reliable answer.
In England.. many villages were in existance prior to the 1500's, thus persons often took their name from the village as in "John from Fillingham". When you get to the US, the opposite is true.. it was settled after 1600's, the people had surnames BEFORE they came, and towns/villages/counties got their names from the person.
Thus, surname origins become a question like "which came first, the chicken or the egg?" Eventually, you give up, shift to finding the ancestors and have scrambled eggs for breakfast.
Speaking of breakfast...
